Today’s post is going to be pretty relaxed and talking about what I’m going to read for the last month of summer. I’ve been in a terrible reading funk (maybe one book a month) and with all the writing and editing that’s been going on with my other projects, I’ve given myself some leniency. But my reader’s heart has ached for a good story telling and so this month I’m going to push myself to not only edit my manuscript and write in my WIP and plot out another WIP but also read three books this month. My younger self would laugh in my face for my 2019 reading record but I’ve found my reading habits fluctuate and I need to not be so book-crazed. Is that even possible??
“The Young Elites” by Marie Lu
I picked this book up a couple weekends ago after reading the first chapter and Marie Lu did a splendid job of hooking me in! I’m super excited to devour this story with such vigor I can hardly contain myself!
“King of Scars” by Leigh Bardugo
I bought this book a longgg time ago and after finishing “Crooked Kingdom” by Bardugo in July, of course I have to read KoS! King Nikolai is by far my favorite character (except Kaz Brekker of course. Of course.) and I’m ecstatic he got his very own duology!
“Shatter Me” by Tahereh Mafi
This book is my most highly anticipated read for this month (maybe this year??) and I’m itching to open it up. I’m definitely late to the “Shatter Me” train and that’s the story of my life. But I see this series all over #bookstagram and Twitter and I’m glad to finally pick it up and meet the story.
Have you read any of these books yet? If so, what do you think and let me know down in the comments! What are you reading this month??
P.S. You’ll find me under the hashtag #writingcommunity (best Twitter-sphere out there!) and follow my writing journey!
